How feature gating works

How feature gating works

Three LTI-related features are tied to your plan. Here's exactly what each one gates.

LTI 1.1

If your plan doesn't include LTI 1.1:

  • The LTI 1.1 Credentials tab on the LTI Connections page is replaced by an "upgrade" callout.
  • Existing 1.1 platforms keep working — no immediate cutoff.
  • Launches from 1.1 platforms redirect to a "Subscription required" page.

LTI 1.3

If your plan doesn't include LTI 1.3:

  • The Dynamic Registration tab is replaced by an upgrade callout.
  • Existing 1.3 platforms keep working too, but new launches redirect to the subscription page.
  • Deep linking flows are blocked.

Grade passback

If your plan doesn't include Grade passback:

  • The "Send grades back" toggle is hidden in deep linking and section configuration.
  • Even if a section has grade passback enabled in the database, the SubmitLtiScore job short-circuits before posting to the LMS.
  • Scores still record inside Meletema — students see results, you see the report. The LMS just doesn't get the number.

Your super-admin sets these flags per plan in the admin UI.

Subscription state

A plan's features are active when the subscription is Trialing or Active. They turn off when the subscription is Cancelled (after the grace period ends) or Incomplete (failed checkout).

The org dashboard's billing card always shows the current state so you can confirm.
